Gujarat's Shakti shrines
Ambaji, in the Aravalli hills of north Gujarat, is one of the most important Shakti shrines in western India and draws large crowds on Purnima days. Mahakali at Pavagadh, near Champaner, sits atop a hill reached by steps or ropeway and is a UNESCO-listed heritage area.
