Package overview

A clear, temple-first plan for your Somnath Dwarka trip

A Somnath Dwarka tour package from Jamnagar starts closer to Dwarka than any other city on this site: 132 to 141 km, about two hours. That single fact rewrites day one. Leave Jamnagar at 07:30 and you are inside Dwarkadhish by 10:30, out before the temple shuts at 1:00 pm, and back for the evening aarti after it reopens at 5:00 pm. Two darshans on the day you travel. Experience My India runs the circuit from Rs. 5,000 per person per night, so the three night plan is Rs. 15,000 per person with a 3 star hotel, breakfast and your vehicle included.

Trip highlights

  • Somnath Dwarka from Jamnagar, from Rs. 5,000 per person per night, Rs. 15,000 per person for three nights at 3 star, vehicle included.
  • Jamnagar is the only start city on this circuit that reaches Dwarkadhish before it shuts at 1:00 pm, which puts two darshans in your travelling day.
  • Bala Hanuman is the one temple on the Somnath Dwarka circuit with no closing time, because the chant has not stopped since 1964.

Two hours to Dwarka, and what that buys

Jamnagar to Dwarka is 132 to 141 km depending on the route. We plan it as two hours with one stop.

Read the rest of this site and you will find every page fighting the same clock. Dwarkadhish shuts at about 1:00 pm and reopens near 5:00 pm, and the whole art of this circuit is arranging your arrival around a locked gate. From Ahmedabad you land at 16:30 and take the evening. From Mumbai the overnight train drops you at 13:10, inside the closure, and you rest through it. Both are the best available answer to a hard problem.

From Jamnagar the problem does not exist. Leave at 07:30, arrive at 09:30, check in, and walk into the temple at 10:30 with two and a half hours to spare. Come back at 17:15 for the evening. That is two darshans on your travelling day, and Jamnagar is the only start on this site that can do it.

Somnath is the long leg from here, about 231 km, which is the exact reverse of Rajkot where Somnath is the near one. So the circuit runs Dwarka first, always, and it is not a preference. It is the map.

The one temple with no clock

Before you leave, five kilometres from Jamnagar Junction on the southeast corner of Ranmal Lake, there is something worth an hour.

At Shri Bala Hanuman Sankirtan Mandir the chant of Sri Ram, Jai Ram, Jai Jai Ram has not stopped since 1964. Not overnight, not for a festival, not once. It holds a Guinness World Record for it. The temple was established by Shri Prembhikshuji Maharaj and the Ram Dhun has simply continued ever since, in relay, through every hour of every day for more than sixty years.

Everything else on this circuit runs on a timetable. Somnath has three aartis and a show at 7:45 pm. Dwarkadhish has a shutter at 1:00 pm. Bet Dwarka keeps its own afternoon break. This is the one place you cannot be late for, because there is nothing to be late for.

If you are flying in, it is nine kilometres from the airport in the wrong direction, and worth it. If you live here, you already know.

If you are landing at Jamnagar

Jamnagar is the nearest airport to Dwarka and it is the door the rest of this site keeps pointing at. It sits about 9 km from Jamnagar Junction, on the Dwarka road, with the BAPS Swaminarayan temple across from it. You land already facing the right way.

We meet the flight. If you land in the morning, day one is the full double darshan day described below. If you land after about 14:00, we take you to Dwarka for the evening session instead and you pick up the morning aarti on day two. Tell us the flight number and we will tell you which of the two you are getting.

Your flight is not in our price. The package starts at arrivals, and it covers the hotel, the breakfast and the vehicle with a driver for every leg after that.

Starting the Krishna circuit where his heirs settled

Jamnagar was founded in 1540 by Jam Rawal, and the Jadeja line he came from is held to descend from Lord Krishna. The city he built became the capital of Nawanagar.

So a Krishna circuit that begins in Jamnagar and ends at Dwarkadhish is not a convenient pickup point. It is the family taking the road home. Every operator selling you a Jamnagar start treats this city as somewhere the Ahmedabad car stops for lunch at 13:30. It is a better place than that, and you live in it.

Driving routes are indicative β€” the actual road taken depends on traffic and darshan timings on the day.

Good to know on price

The rate is per person per night. Multiply by your nights. Hotel, breakfast and your vehicle with a driver are inside every number.

Group size picks the vehicle, not budget. Sedan for 2 to 3, Ertiga for 4 to 5, Innova Crysta for 5 to 6, 9 seater Tempo Traveller for 7 to 9, 12 seater Maharaja or Urbania for 10 to 12, 26 seater Tempo Traveller above that.

One night from Jamnagar buys Dwarka properly and nothing else. It is a real product from here, because two hours out and two hours back is not a day lost. It is not the circuit. If you only want Dwarka, say so and we will price the day tour instead.

No five star Taj or ITC property operates in Dwarka or in Somnath. In Dwarka the top tier puts you in The Fern Sattva Resort. At Somnath it buys the best room in town, named in your quote before you pay.

Cancellation, refunds and the payment schedule are set out in full on our cancellation and refund policy, and the booking terms sit alongside it. Read both before you pay.

The Shree Somnath Trust accepts pooja and donation bookings only through its own website and warns that it never asks for payment through private numbers, WhatsApp or UPI. Book sevas yourself at somnath.org. We will not take that money on your behalf.

Why choose Experience My India

  • We know what two hours is worth. It is a morning darshan on your travelling day, and it is the reason the Jamnagar plan looks nothing like the Ahmedabad one.
  • We start you at Bala Hanuman. Every operator picking you up in this city drives past a Guinness World Record to get to you.
  • We publish the arithmetic. 132 to 141 km out, 233 across the coast, 231 back. Every leg is a number you can check before you pay us anything.
  • We meet your flight, and we tell you which version of day one your arrival time has bought before you book, not after.
  • A local Gujarat team plans the route and drives it. One number, +91 7302265809, on call and WhatsApp.
  • We reconfirm every timing before departure, because festival schedules move at Shravan, Janmashtami and Mahashivratri. Except one, which has not changed since 1964.

This trip is not for you if

  • You want Somnath first. From Jamnagar it is 231 km against 132 to Dwarka, so running the circuit backwards wastes your best day. We will do it if you insist, and we will tell you it costs you the double darshan.
  • You want both temples in one day. Being two hours from Dwarka does not make Dwarka close to Somnath. They are still 233 km apart and both shut in the afternoon.
  • You land after 14:00 and expect the morning slot. The gate is shut by then. You get the evening instead and the aarti the next day, which is a good trip and is not this one.
  • You are booking Janmashtami at short notice. Dwarka at Janmashtami is a different sport. Two to three months of lead time, or pick another week.
  • You want a five star Taj in Dwarka. It does not exist, and anyone selling you one should be asked for the property name.

Two hours to Dwarka, a morning darshan on the day you travel, and a chant in your own city that has not stopped since 1964. Rs. 15,000 per person at 3 star for three nights, hotel, breakfast and vehicle included.

Frequently Asked Questions

Package FAQs

How far is Dwarka from Jamnagar?
132 to 141 km by road depending on the route, which we plan as about two hours with one stop. It is the shortest run to Dwarka from any city we pick up in, and it is why day one from Jamnagar reaches the temple before the 1:00 pm closure.
How far is Somnath from Jamnagar?
About 231 km. Somnath is the long leg from Jamnagar, the exact opposite of the position from Rajkot where Somnath is the closer of the two. That is why the circuit runs Dwarka first from here.
Is Jamnagar the nearest airport to Dwarka?
Yes, at about 130 km, and the airport sits roughly 9 km from Jamnagar Junction on the Dwarka road, so you land facing the right way. Porbandar is the other option at about 133 km from Dwarka.
Can we visit Dwarka from Jamnagar in one day?
Yes, and Jamnagar is one of the few places where that is honest rather than a car ride. Two hours out, morning darshan before the 1:00 pm shutter, evening aarti after 5:00 pm, two hours back. If that is all you want, ask us for the day tour rather than the circuit.
How many days do you need for Dwarka and Somnath from Jamnagar?
Three nights, at Rs. 15,000 per person at the 3 star tier. Two nights in Dwarka, which the short drive lets you use properly from the first morning, and one in Somnath before the long leg home.
What is the Ram Dhun at Bala Hanuman temple?
A continuous chant of Sri Ram, Jai Ram, Jai Jai Ram that has run without stopping at Shri Bala Hanuman Sankirtan Mandir in Jamnagar since 1964, and holds a Guinness World Record. The temple sits on the southeast corner of Ranmal Lake, about 5 km from Jamnagar Junction. It is the only stop on this circuit with no closing time.
How much is a Dwarka Somnath package from Jamnagar?
From Rs. 5,000 per person per night, so Rs. 15,000 per person for the three night plan at the 3 star tier. Rs. 30,000 at 4 star and Rs. 37,500 at 5 star. Hotel, breakfast and your vehicle with driver are included in all three.
