Four nights is the 4 day circuit plus one more night, and that night goes to Gir or to Diu. The calendar makes the choice for you more often than taste does: the Gir Jungle Trail safari is closed every year from 16 June to 15 October. If your dates fall inside that window, a package sold to you as "Somnath Dwarka Gir with safari" cannot deliver the safari. We will route you to Diu instead and tell you why.

Read this before you choose Gir
We do not promise you a lion. Gir is a forest and the animals have not agreed to a schedule. Any operator who promises a sighting on a wild safari is selling you a story. What we can do is get the permit booked early through the government portal, put you on a dawn slot, and be honest about the odds.

Next step: send your dates first. The calendar decides Gir or Diu before anything else does. Gir or Diu Diu also sits close to Somnath on the same coast, so the fifth day flows instead of doubling back. Gir sits inland between Veraval and Junagadh, which shapes the return leg differently.

- 05:30Pickup at Ahmedabad. Before sunrise is not us being difficult. The run is 440 to 450 km and 8 to 9 hours, and the temple shuts at about 1:00 pm.
- 08:00Breakfast on the Rajkot highway. Kathiawadi country, and the last reliably good food stop for a while.
- 13:30Lunch near Jamnagar.
- 16:30Dwarka hotel check in.
- 17:30Dwarkadhish evening darshan as the gates reopen. Cameras and phones go to the cloakroom, so leave the bag in the car.
- 18:30Gomti Ghat, the ghat steps, and the shikhara flag.
- 20:00Dinner.
Day2Bet Dwarka and NageshwarFull Day|Temple Visits
- 06:30Mangala Aarti at Dwarkadhish. This is the reason you slept here.
- 09:00Drive to Okha, then across Sudarshan Setu. The 2.32 km cable stayed bridge opened on 25 February 2024 and replaced the boat crossing. Its footpath carries verses from the Bhagavad Gita.
- 10:00Bet Dwarka darshan and the island temples.
- 12:30Back across the bridge.
- 13:30Nageshwar Jyotirlinga, on the Dwarka to Okha road, so it costs no detour.
- 15:30Rukmini Devi Temple, Gopi Talav, and Bhadkeshwar Mahadev if the tide allows. Bhadkeshwar sits out on the rocks and is reachable at low tide, so it is a maybe, not a promise.

Day3The coastal run to SomnathFull Day|Temple Visits
- 07:00Leave Dwarka after breakfast. NH51, 233 km, 5 to 6 hours.
- 09:30Porbandar. Kirti Mandir and Sudama Mandir, a real stop of about an hour.
- 13:00Lunch, Madhavpur or the Veraval side.
- 15:00Somnath hotel check in.
- 18:30Vallabhghat for sunset over the Arabian Sea.
- 19:00Sandhya Aarti.
- 19:45Jay Somnath sound and light show, 7:45 pm to 8:45 pm per the Trust. Dinner comes after, not before, which is where most itineraries go wrong.
Day4Somnath to Sasan GirFull Day|Temple Visits
- 07:00Mangala Aarti and darshan at Somnath.
- 08:30Bhalka Tirth, Triveni Sangam, Geeta Mandir.
- 11:00Drive to Sasan Gir, about 60 to 70 km.
- 13:00Check in. Afternoon is deliberately light, because tomorrow starts before dawn.
- 16:00Evening safari slot if your permit falls here, or the Gir Interpretation Zone.
Day5Safari and outFull Day|Temple Visits
- 05:30Report at Sinh Sadan, 30 minutes before the slot on your permit. Carry the same original ID you booked with, because they check it.
- 06:00Morning Jungle Trail safari, about 3 hours in an open gypsy. Routes are assigned by the forest department, not chosen.
- 09:30Breakfast, check out.
- 11:00Drive to Ahmedabad via Junagadh, or drop at Rajkot or Diu airport.
The Diu version swaps day 4 for the coastal run to Diu, the fort at low light, and a morning on the beach before the drive home.

General darshan is free at both temples. The Shree Somnath Trust accepts bookings and donations only through its own official website, never through private numbers or UPI.

This plan is not for you if
- Your dates fall between 16 June and 15 October and you want the jungle safari. It is shut. Take the Diu version or move your dates.
- You want the permit arranged next week. Tatkal and urgent bookings do not exist at Gir. Permits go early and they go online.
- You want a lion promised in writing. No honest operator will. If a page promises one, close it.
- You are travelling with a toddler or a frail elder and still want Gir. A 5:30 am report and 3 hours in an open gypsy on assigned forest tracks is not a gentle morning. Diu is the kinder fourth night.
- You want to add Gir to a 3 day trip. The dawn slot needs its own night.
