Somnath Dwarka pilgrimage circuit
Package overview
A clear, temple-first plan for your Somnath Dwarka trip
A Somnath Dwarka tour package from Mumbai does not involve you driving. It is about 950 km to Dwarka, which is 18 hours behind a wheel, so you arrive by rail or by air and the circuit starts when you land. The Saurashtra Mail 22945 leaves Mumbai Central at 21:05 every night and reaches Dwarka at 13:10 the next day, turning the journey into a night's sleep. Experience My India meets you at the station or the airport and runs the circuit from Rs. 5,000 per person per night, so the three night plan is Rs. 15,000 per person with a 3 star hotel, breakfast and your vehicle included.

Trip highlights
- Somnath Dwarka from Mumbai, from Rs. 5,000 per person per night, Rs. 15,000 per person for three nights at 3 star, vehicle included, and the rail ticket is not in the price.
- There is a direct daily train from Mumbai to Dwarka, despite what several travel pages claim.
- The Mumbai passenger and the Ahmedabad passenger reach Dwarka on the same train at the same minute. The Mumbai one just slept through eight more hours of it.
From Mumbai, you do not drive
Dwarka is about 950 km from Mumbai. Somnath is further still by the sensible route. That is 18 hours or more behind a wheel, across two states, and there is no version of it that leaves you fit for a 6:30 am aarti.
So the Mumbai question is not which road. It is which door you come in through, and that decision quietly picks which temple you see first.
The overnight train is the best option on this page
The Saurashtra Mail, 22945, leaves Mumbai Central at 21:05 and reaches Dwarka at 13:10 the following day. It runs every day of the week. Roughly 16 hours, one night, about 960 km.
Sixteen hours sounds like a lot until you notice what it costs you, which is nothing. You board after dinner, you sleep, you wake up in Saurashtra. The hotel night you would have paid for is the berth you are lying in.
Then the arrival time does something better than fast. 13:10 puts you in Dwarka inside the temple's afternoon closure, which runs from about 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm. That sounds like bad luck. It is the whole point. You check in, eat, rest through the shut hours, and walk into Dwarkadhish when the gate reopens at 5:00 pm with the evening in front of you. A train that arrived at nine in the morning would only have given you four hours of waiting.
There is a detail here we like. The Mumbai passenger and the Ahmedabad passenger step onto the same platform at the same minute, because it is the same train. The Mumbai one boarded eight hours earlier and slept through the difference.
One ranking page for this search tells you there is no direct transport from Mumbai to Dwarka and routes you through Nadiad and two buses. There is. It leaves at 21:05, daily.
If you fly, the airport picks your first temple
There is no airport at Dwarka and none at Somnath. You land somewhere else and drive in, and the somewhere else decides your itinerary.
Jamnagar is the closest airport to Dwarka, about 130 km out, which is a two and a half to three hour drive. Land here and you start at Dwarka, like the train does.
Porbandar sits about 133 km from Dwarka and is well placed for the coastal leg, since Kirti Mandir is in the town you land in.
Diu is the closest airport to Somnath, about 82 to 90 km away, an hour and a half to two hours by road. Land here and you run the circuit backwards, Somnath first and Dwarka last. Mumbai to Diu services are limited and do not fly every day, so this door opens on some dates and not others.
Tell us your flight and we will build the direction around it. That is the correct order of operations, and it is the opposite of how most package pages work.
Where our package starts, said plainly
Your journey from Mumbai is not in our price. Not the train, not the flight. We do not sell rail tickets and we would rather tell you that here than have you find out at the quote.
What you are buying starts the moment you arrive: the pickup at Dwarka station, Jamnagar airport or Diu, the hotel, the breakfast, and the vehicle with a driver for every leg of the circuit until we drop you back at your departure point.
From Ahmedabad or Rajkot our packages collect you from your front door. From Mumbai they collect you from a platform. The tier prices are the same either way, because they were never covering your travel to Gujarat in the first place.

Your route, day by day
Day 1

Driving routes are indicative β the actual road taken depends on traffic and darshan timings on the day.
Good to know on price
The rate is per person per night. Multiply by your nights. Hotel, breakfast and your vehicle with a driver are inside every number. Your travel from Mumbai is not, and never was.
Group size picks the vehicle, not budget. Sedan for 2 to 3, Ertiga for 4 to 5, Innova Crysta for 5 to 6, 9 seater Tempo Traveller for 7 to 9, 12 seater Maharaja or Urbania for 10 to 12, 26 seater Tempo Traveller above that.
No five star Taj or ITC property operates in Dwarka or in Somnath. In Dwarka the top tier puts you in The Fern Sattva Resort. At Somnath it buys the best room in town, named in your quote before you pay.
Cancellation, refunds and the payment schedule are set out in full on our cancellation and refund policy, and the booking terms sit alongside it. Read both before you pay. Your rail ticket is your own contract with Indian Railways and its cancellation rules are theirs, not ours, which is another reason we tell you the ticket is not in our price.
The Shree Somnath Trust accepts pooja and donation bookings only through its own website and warns that it never asks for payment through private numbers, WhatsApp or UPI. Book sevas yourself at somnath.org. We will not take that money on your behalf.
Why choose Experience My India
- We tell you the train is better than us driving you 950 km, and we do not charge you for the 950 km we did not drive.
- We say where the money starts. Your ticket to Gujarat is yours. Our price begins on the platform. Nobody in this search result makes that clear, and it is the single most common argument between a Mumbai family and a tour operator.
- We know what the 13:10 arrival means. It lands in the closure, and that is why it is the right train rather than the wrong one.
- We correct the errors the other pages are still printing. There is a direct train from Mumbai. There is no ferry to Bet Dwarka, not since February 2024.
- A local Gujarat team meets your train, plans the route and drives it. One number, +91 7302265809, on call and WhatsApp.
- We reconfirm every timing before departure, because festival schedules move at Shravan, Janmashtami and Mahashivratri.
This trip is not for you if
- You want us to drive you from Mumbai. It is about 950 km and 18 hours. We will not pretend that is a holiday, and we will not sell it.
- You want a fixed departure group tour with the rail ticket bundled. That is a different product and other operators do it well. Ours is a private circuit that starts when you arrive.
- You are set on flying into Diu. Mumbai services there are limited and do not run daily. Tell us your dates first and we will tell you honestly whether that door is open.
- You have one weekend. Rail in and rail out plus the circuit needs three nights to be worth the journey. Two is possible and thin.
- You want a five star Taj in Dwarka. It does not exist, and anyone selling you one should be asked for the property name.
950 km you do not drive, a 21:05 train that turns the journey into a night's sleep, and a 13:10 arrival timed to a shut gate on purpose. Rs. 15,000 per person at 3 star for three nights, hotel, breakfast and vehicle included, starting the moment we meet your train.
