Package overview

A clear, temple-first plan for your Somnath Dwarka trip

A Somnath Dwarka tour package from Rajkot is the shortest version of this circuit anyone can honestly sell. Somnath is about 197 km south, Dwarka is 225 to 235 km northwest, and the two temples are 233 km apart on NH51, so the whole loop closes at roughly 655 km with nothing retraced. Experience My India runs it from Rs. 5,000 per person per night, so the three day, two night plan that suits Rajkot is Rs. 10,000 per person with a 3 star hotel, breakfast and your vehicle included. Four days is what operators sell from Ahmedabad. From Rajkot it buys you a lie in, not a sight.

Trip highlights

  • Somnath Dwarka from Rajkot, from Rs. 5,000 per person per night, Rs. 10,000 per person for three days and two nights at 3 star, vehicle included.
  • Rajkot is the only start city on this circuit where two days is honest rather than a car ride.
  • Three days is the right plan from Rajkot and the wrong plan from Ahmedabad. The geography, not the marketing, decides it.

Rajkot sits at the apex, and that changes the trip

Look at where Rajkot is. Somnath is about 197 km due south, roughly a four hour drive with a stop. Dwarka is 225 to 235 km to the northwest. The temples are 233 km from each other along the coast.

Three legs, none of them a full day. That is a closed triangle of about 655 km, and you never drive the same road twice. From Ahmedabad the same circuit is 450 km out, 233 across and 410 back, and day one is gone before you see anything.

Here is the part no competitor page states: from Rajkot, Somnath is the closer temple. Everywhere else in Gujarat, Dwarka is the one you reach first. That single fact decides which way round you drive, and most operators selling you a Rajkot package have not noticed it, because they are selling you the Ahmedabad itinerary with the word Rajkot pasted over the pickup line.

If you are standing in Rajkot, you are already four hours into that Ahmedabad trip. The drive from Ahmedabad comes through here. You should not pay for the part you have already done.

Three days, not four

From Ahmedabad we recommend four days and three nights, and we argue for it hard, because the drive in eats a day and Dwarka needs a full clear one after that.

From Rajkot the arithmetic changes. Day one reaches Dwarka around lunch, which lands inside the temple's afternoon closure, so you check in, rest and walk in when the gate reopens at 5:00 pm with the whole evening ahead of you. Day two takes the coast to Somnath and still arrives for the 7:00 pm aarti. Day three brings you home in four hours after an unhurried morning darshan.

Two nights, one in each town, and nothing rushed. That is Rs. 10,000 per person at the 3 star tier.

Take the fourth night if you want Bet Dwarka unhurried, or Porbandar, or a Gir add on. Take it because you want the sight, not because a package page told you four days is the standard. From here, it is not.

Should you take the train from Rajkot?

From Ahmedabad this is a real question and we spend a section on it, because a well timed train beats the car on that route.

From Rajkot it is not a question. Trains from Rajkot Junction and Bhakti Nagar run to Veraval roughly every four hours and take about 4 hours 22 minutes to 4 hours 34 minutes. The road takes about the same. You would trade nothing for nothing, and you would arrive without a vehicle in a region where Bet Dwarka is 30 km past Dwarka across a bridge and Nageshwar sits on the road between them.

Drive. Our vehicle stays with you for all three legs and it is inside the price.

Which direction from Rajkot

Dwarka first is our default, because it puts the 233 km coastal leg in the middle of the trip where it belongs and finishes with the shorter 197 km run home.

Somnath first works if you want the aarti and the show on your first evening, since Somnath is the nearer temple and the drive is about four hours. You then take the coast north to Dwarka and come home from there on the longer 230 km leg.

Both are honest. Neither wastes a day. Tell us which temple matters more to your family and we will start there.

Day-wise itinerary

Day1
Rajkot to Dwarka, 225 to 235 km
Full Day|Temple Visits
  • 07:00Pickup in Rajkot. No dawn start needed. This is the mercy of starting from here.
  • 09:00Tea stop on the Jamnagar road.
  • 11:30Dwarka hotel check in, Lords Inn class at the 3 star tier. You have arrived inside the afternoon closure, which is exactly the plan.
  • 13:00Lunch, then rest. The temple is shut until 5:00 pm and fighting that is how people ruin day one.
  • 17:15Dwarkadhish evening darshan. The gate has just opened and the queue is moving.
  • 19:00Gomti Ghat, and the Sudama Setu footbridge while the light holds.
  • 20:30Dinner. Night one in Dwarka.
Day2
Dwarka to Somnath via the coast, 233 km on NH51
Full Day|Temple Visits
  • 06:30Mangala Aarti at Dwarkadhish. Shortest queue of the day and the quietest the temple gets.
  • 08:00Nageshwar Jyotirlinga, which sits on the Dwarka to Okha road. Bet Dwarka needs a clear morning of its own, so if the island matters to you, take the third night and we will build it in.
  • 10:00Leave Dwarka. The coastal run begins.
  • 12:30Porbandar. Kirti Mandir and the Sudama connection. This stop is the whole argument for the coastal road over the inland one.
  • 15:30Somnath hotel check in.
  • 18:30Vallabhghat for sunset over the Arabian Sea.
  • 19:00Sandhya Aarti.
  • 19:45Jay Somnath sound and light show. The Trust runs it 7:45 pm to 8:45 pm, not 8:00 pm as most pages print. Fifteen minutes decides whether you see the opening.
Day3
Somnath to Rajkot, about 197 km
Full Day|Temple Visits
  • 07:00Mangala Aarti and unhurried darshan at the Jyotirlinga.
  • 09:00Bhalka Tirth, Triveni Sangam, Geeta Mandir, and the Ahalyabai temple the queen mother built in 1782.
  • 11:30Depart for Rajkot. Roughly four hours.
  • 15:30Drop at your Rajkot address, the station or the airport.

Your route, day by day

Rajkot to Dwarka, 225 to 235 km

Open route

Driving routes are indicative β€” the actual road taken depends on traffic and darshan timings on the day.

Good to know on price

The rate is per person per night. Multiply by your nights. Hotel, breakfast and your vehicle with a driver are inside every number, and there is no arithmetic hidden behind an enquiry form.

Group size picks the vehicle, not budget. Sedan for 2 to 3, Ertiga for 4 to 5, Innova Crysta for 5 to 6, 9 seater Tempo Traveller for 7 to 9, 12 seater Maharaja or Urbania for 10 to 12, 26 seater Tempo Traveller above that.

Rajkot is the only start city where the single night plan is honest rather than a car ride, because both temples are half day drives from here. It is still tight. Read the two days one night page before you choose it.

No five star Taj or ITC property operates in Dwarka or in Somnath. In Dwarka the top tier puts you in The Fern Sattva Resort. At Somnath it buys the best room in town, named in your quote before you pay.

Cancellation, refunds and the payment schedule are set out in full on our cancellation and refund policy, and the booking terms sit alongside it. Read both before you pay. If a road shuts or a festival moves the temple's hours, talk to us first, because that is usually a reschedule rather than a cancellation.

The Shree Somnath Trust accepts pooja and donation bookings only through its own website and warns that it never asks for payment through private numbers, WhatsApp or UPI. Book sevas yourself at somnath.org. We will not take that money on your behalf.

Why choose Experience My India

  • We sell you the shorter trip. Four days from Rajkot is a lie in, not a sight, and an operator paid by the night has every reason not to tell you that.
  • We know which temple is closer to you. Somnath is, by about 30 km, and it decides the direction you drive. Nobody selling a Rajkot package in this search result seems to have looked at a map.
  • We publish the arithmetic. 230 km plus 233 plus 197 is a 655 km triangle with nothing retraced. Every leg on this page is a number you can check before you pay us anything.
  • The vehicle is in the price for all three legs, which is the whole reason the train is pointless from here.
  • A local Gujarat team plans the route and drives it. One number, +91 7302265809, on call and WhatsApp.
  • We reconfirm every timing before departure, because festival schedules move at Shravan, Janmashtami and Mahashivratri.

This trip is not for you if

  • You want Bet Dwarka on a three day plan. The island needs a clear morning and the third day is your drive home. Take the fourth night and we will build it in properly.
  • You want both temples in one day from Rajkot. Somnath and Dwarka are 233 km apart and both shut in the afternoon. Being close to both does not make them close to each other.
  • You want to take the train to save time. From Rajkot it saves nothing and costs you the vehicle.
  • You are booking Janmashtami at short notice. Dwarka at Janmashtami is a different sport. Two to three months of lead time, or pick another week.
  • You want a five star Taj in Dwarka. It does not exist, and anyone selling you one should be asked for the property name.

A 655 km triangle with nothing retraced, both temples inside half day drives, and the honest answer that three days is enough from here. Rs. 10,000 per person at 3 star, hotel, breakfast and vehicle included.

Frequently Asked Questions

Package FAQs

How far is Dwarka from Rajkot?
225 to 235 km by road depending on the route, which we plan as about four hours with a tea stop. Somnath is closer, at about 197 km.
How far is Somnath from Rajkot?
About 197 to 200 km, roughly four hours by road. Somnath is the nearer of the two temples from Rajkot, which is the opposite of the position from Ahmedabad and it decides which way round you drive.
How many days do you need for Dwarka and Somnath from Rajkot?
Three days and two nights, at Rs. 10,000 per person at the 3 star tier. One night in Dwarka, one in Somnath, nothing rushed. Four days is what gets sold from Ahmedabad, where the drive in eats a day. From Rajkot the fourth night buys Bet Dwarka or Porbandar, not the basics.
Can we cover Dwarka and Somnath from Rajkot in 2 days?
Rajkot is the only start city where two days is honest rather than a car ride, because both temples are half day drives from here. It is still tight and one town gets the short version. Rs. 5,000 per person at the 3 star tier.
Is there a train from Rajkot to Somnath?
Yes. Services from Rajkot Junction and Bhakti Nagar reach Veraval, the working railhead for Somnath, roughly every four hours, taking about 4 hours 22 minutes to 4 hours 34 minutes. That is no faster than the road, and it leaves you without a vehicle in a region where the sites are spread out. From Rajkot, drive.
How much is a Dwarka Somnath package from Rajkot?
From Rs. 5,000 per person per night, so Rs. 10,000 per person for the three day, two night plan that suits Rajkot at the 3 star tier. Rs. 20,000 at 4 star and Rs. 25,000 at 5 star. Hotel, breakfast and your vehicle with driver are included in all three.
What is the full route from Rajkot?
Rajkot to Dwarka is 225 to 235 km, Dwarka to Somnath is 233 km along the coast through Porbandar on NH51, and Somnath back to Rajkot is about 197 km. That closes a triangle of roughly 655 km with no road driven twice.
