Package overview

A clear, temple-first plan for your Somnath Dwarka trip

A Somnath Dwarka tour package from Surat has to solve the longest approach on this site: 674 to 698 km to Dwarka, nearly 12 hours by road. That length changes the advice. The daily train, the Saurashtra Mail, leaves Surat at 01:07, which is a hard hour. But on a Friday or Sunday an evening train leaves around 20:45 and reaches Dwarka the next morning before the temple shuts, which beats both the drive and the daily train. Experience My India runs the circuit from Rs. 5,000 per person per night, so the four day plan is Rs. 15,000 per person with a 3 star hotel, breakfast and your vehicle included. From Surat, the first thing we ask is your travel date, because it decides how you should come.

Trip highlights

  • Somnath Dwarka from Surat, from Rs. 5,000 per person per night, Rs. 15,000 per person for four days at 3 star, and the rate does not rise because you are further out.
  • Surat is the furthest start on the circuit at 674 to 698 km to Dwarka, nearly 12 hours by road, and the daily Saurashtra Mail leaves Surat at 01:07.
  • From Surat, a Friday or Sunday evening train reaches Dwarka the next morning before the temple shuts, the best rail arrival on the whole circuit.

Why Surat is the one page about the date, not the drive

Every other origin on this site settles into a clear default. From Ahmedabad you take the slow train. From Rajkot you drive. From Mumbai you take the overnight. From Vadodara you drive, because the only daily train is at a terrible hour.

Surat breaks the pattern, because Surat is far. 674 to 698 km to Dwarka, nearly 12 hours behind the wheel. That is not a drive you give a family of pilgrims if there is a better way, and from Surat, on the right day, there is.

So this is the one origin page where we do not hand you a default. We ask what day you are travelling, and the answer changes with it. Tell us the date first.

The 01:07 train, and the fourth city on a hundred year old line

The Saurashtra Mail, 22945, is the daily train from Surat to Dwarka. It leaves Surat at 01:07 and arrives at 13:10, about twelve hours.

The arrival is the good part. 13:10 lands you inside the Dwarkadhish afternoon closure, from about 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm, so you check in and rest and walk into the temple when it reopens at 5:00 pm.

The departure is the hard part, and it is the hardest of the four. This is the same train that leaves Mumbai at 21:05 after dinner, Vadodara at 02:57, and Ahmedabad at 05:05. Surat boards at 01:07, the earliest of the small hours stops, and rides the longest of the four. All four of us reach Dwarka at 13:10. One train, four cities, four different nights.

The Saurashtra Mail first ran on 1 October 1925 and has held this Mumbai to Okha spine for a hundred years. It is a good train. 01:07 is just not a good hour.

The Friday and Sunday exception that beats everything

Here is the fact no Surat package page prints, and it is the best thing on this one.

On a Friday, the TPTY Okha Express leaves Surat around 20:55 and reaches Dwarka around 10:05 the next morning. On a Sunday, the RMM Okha Express leaves around 20:43 and reaches around 09:03. You board in the evening, you sleep, and you arrive in the morning while the temple is still open, before the 1:00 pm shutter.

That is a better arrival than the daily train, which lands inside the closure, and it is a better arrival than anything Ahmedabad or Vadodara can give you. From Surat, of all places, the right day of the week produces the best rail arrival on the whole circuit.

These are weekly trains and their days shift, so we do not print a timetable that will rot. Send your dates. If a Friday or Sunday evening train runs on your day, we tell you to take it and we meet it at Dwarka in the morning.

When the date does not cooperate, weigh the flight

If you cannot travel on a good train day, Surat is the one origin where flying earns a real look, precisely because the drive is so long.

Surat airport connects through Mumbai or Ahmedabad to Jamnagar, which is the nearest airport to Dwarka at about two hours from the temple. It is not a direct hop and it is not always cheap, but against a 12 hour drive or a 01:07 train it is often the humane choice, and we plan the ground half from Jamnagar the moment you land.

Your flight is not in the land package price. If you would rather we handle the whole thing including the air ticket, we also build all inclusive flight packages, and we will quote one for Surat on request.

The land package, our default here, covers the hotel, the breakfast and your vehicle with a driver for the entire circuit from the point we pick you up, whether that is Surat, a station or the airport.

Day-wise itinerary

Surat to Dwarka, however the date told you to come
Full Day|Temple Visits
  • by 13:10If you took the daily Saurashtra Mail, you reach Dwarka at 13:10, inside the closure, and we meet the train. If you took a Friday or Sunday evening train, you are already here from mid morning and have had a darshan before the shutter. If you drove, we left Surat before dawn and it was a long day.
  • 14:00Hotel check in, Lords Inn class at the 3 star tier. Rest through the afternoon closure if you arrived on the daily train.
  • 17:15Dwarkadhish evening darshan once the gate reopens at 5:00 pm.
  • 19:00Gomti Ghat and the Sudama Setu footbridge if the light holds.
  • 20:30Dinner. Night one in Dwarka.
Day2
The middle of the trip, shared by every start city
Full Day|Temple Visits

Once you are on the circuit your start city stops mattering, so rather than reprint the same two days on every origin page we hand them to the plan that owns them. Two full days of Dwarka, Bet Dwarka across Sudarshan Setu, Nageshwar and the coastal run to Somnath through Porbandar, set out hour by hour on the four day plan. The full hour by hour version of both days sits on the four day plan. It is the same middle you are buying here. See /somnath-dwarka-tour-package/4-days-3-nights/

Day3
Somnath to Surat, the longest leg home
Full Day|Temple Visits
  • 07:00Mangala Aarti and unhurried darshan at the Jyotirlinga.
  • 09:00Bhalka Tirth, Triveni Sangam, Geeta Mandir and the Ahalyabai temple the queen mother built in 1782.
  • 10:30Depart for Surat. This is the longest drive of any origin on this site, so if your dates allowed a train in, we will usually route you back by rail too and end the trip at a station rather than after a full day in the car.
  • eveningReach Surat, or the station or airport if you came and left by train or air.

Your route, day by day

Day 1

Surat to Dwarka, however the date told you to come

Open route

Driving routes are indicative β€” the actual road taken depends on traffic and darshan timings on the day.

Good to know on price

The rate is per person per night. Multiply by your nights. Hotel, breakfast and your vehicle with a driver are inside every number.

Gst note. Every price here is final and includes GST. Nothing is added at checkout.

Group and child. The rate is per person on twin sharing. In a group of about six the 3 star rate falls to around Rs. 4,000 per person per night on triple sharing, and to around Rs. 3,500 in a group of about twelve. A solo traveller pays the base plus Rs. 3,500 for the same services. Children under five travel free, and from five they are counted as an adult.

Vehicle note. Group size picks the vehicle. Sedan for 2 to 3, Ertiga for 4 to 5, Innova Crysta for 5 to 6, 9 seater Tempo Traveller for 7 to 9, 12 seater Maharaja or Urbania for 10 to 12, 26 seater Tempo Traveller above that.

Travel note. This is a land package. Your train, bus or flight to reach the circuit is not in the price, and we pick you up at Surat, a station or the airport. If you want the air ticket included, ask for an all inclusive flight package and we will quote one.

Included note. Every tier also covers all road tolls, parking, fuel, and the driver's food and stay, so the figure you see is the figure you travel on.

Five star honesty. No five star Taj or ITC property operates in Dwarka or in Somnath. In Dwarka the top tier puts you in The Fern Sattva Resort. At Somnath it buys the best room in town, named in your quote before you pay. Taj and ITC enter your plan only on the legs that reach them, which this circuit does not.

Blackout note. Two dates break this rate card. On Janmashtami and Diwali, demand can push prices up to three times these numbers, and we take a limited number of bookings made about three months ahead. If your travel lands on either, ask early and we will quote the real figure rather than a floor you cannot get.

Cancellation. We confirm a booking on 50 percent advance, and you pay the remaining 50 percent after you arrive, during the journey. Cancellation, refunds and the payment schedule are set out in full on our cancellation and refund policy, and the booking terms sit alongside it. Read both before you pay.

Trust warning. The Shree Somnath Trust accepts pooja and donation bookings only through its own website and warns that it never asks for payment through private numbers, WhatsApp or UPI. Book sevas yourself at somnath.org. We will not take that money on your behalf.

Why choose Experience My India

  • We ask your date before we quote a route, because from Surat the date is the decision. No other operator selling a Surat start does this.
  • We know the one arrival most people miss: a Friday or Sunday evening train that reaches Dwarka before the shutter, which beats every option from every city.
  • We will tell you to fly when flying is the humane answer to a 12 hour drive, and we will plan the ground half from Jamnagar the moment you land.
  • We publish the distance and the train times. 674 to 698 km, the 01:07 daily, the evening weeklies. Numbers you can check before you pay us anything.
  • A local Gujarat team plans the route and drives it. One number, +91 7302265809, on call and WhatsApp.
  • We reconfirm every timing before departure, because festival schedules move at Shravan, Janmashtami and Mahashivratri.

This trip is not for you if

  • You want a fixed answer regardless of your date. From Surat there isn't one. The best way to travel genuinely changes between a Friday and a Wednesday, and a page that pretends otherwise is not reading the timetable.
  • You want to drive it in one comfortable go. It is nearly 12 hours to Dwarka. We will do it, and we will break it, but there is no version where that drive is short.
  • You want the daily train and a good hour. 01:07 is the daily train's hour from Surat, and it does not improve by asking.
  • You want Dwarka and Somnath in a weekend without a plan. From 674 km out, a rushed weekend means most of it is spent arriving. Give it four days.
  • You want a five star Taj in Dwarka. It does not exist, and anyone selling you one should be asked for the property name.

The furthest start on the circuit, where the day you travel decides how you should come. A Friday or Sunday evening train beats everything, otherwise weigh the 01:07 train against a flight. Rs. 15,000 per person at 3 star for four days, hotel, breakfast and vehicle included.

Frequently Asked Questions

Package FAQs

How far is Dwarka from Surat?
674 to 698 km by road, about 11 to 12 hours, and 698 to 699 km by rail. That makes Surat the furthest starting city we run this circuit from, and it is why the usual advice to simply drive does not hold here.
Is there a direct train from Surat to Dwarka?
Yes. The daily one is the Saurashtra Mail 22945, which leaves Surat at 01:07 and reaches Dwarka at 13:10. The hour is hard. On a Friday or Sunday, evening trains leave around 20:45 and reach Dwarka the next morning before the temple shuts, which is a much better arrival. We check which runs on your date.
What is the best way to reach Dwarka from Surat?
It depends on your date. On a Friday or Sunday, an evening train that arrives next morning is the best option on the whole circuit. On other days you weigh the 01:07 daily train against flying through Mumbai or Ahmedabad to Jamnagar, because the road is nearly 12 hours. We recommend per date rather than by rule.
Can we fly from Surat to Dwarka?
Not directly. Surat airport connects through Mumbai or Ahmedabad to Jamnagar, the nearest airport to Dwarka at about two hours out. Given the length of the drive, it is worth weighing, and we can quote an all inclusive flight package that includes the air ticket if you want us to handle it end to end.
How many days do you need for Dwarka and Somnath from Surat?
Four days and three nights, at Rs. 15,000 per person at the 3 star tier. From 674 km out, anything shorter is mostly spent travelling. Four days lets the arrival day be about arriving and still gives you both temples, the island and the coast.
How much is a Dwarka Somnath package from Surat?
From Rs. 5,000 per person per night, so Rs. 15,000 per person for the four day, three night plan at the 3 star tier. Rs. 30,000 at 4 star and Rs. 37,500 at 5 star. Hotel, breakfast and your vehicle with driver are included, GST included, and the rate does not rise because you are further out.
