Bet Dwarka Temple Timings: Darshan Hours & Ferry Schedule

Bet Dwarka temple is open for darshan daily from 6:00 AM to 12:30 PM and 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with the sanctum closed for a midday break from 12:30 PM to 5:00 PM. You can now drive to the island across the Sudarshan Setu bridge, while the Okha ferry still runs from 6:00 AM to 7:00 PM (every 30 minutes); if you take the boat, head back by 7:00 PM for the last return.
Timing your Bet Dwarka trip well matters, because the temple closes for a long midday rest and, if you take the boat, the last ferry back is fixed. I was born in Dwarka and have taken travellers across to the island for years, so here are the exact darshan hours and how to plan around them. For the island's temple, legend and what to see, read our Bet Dwarka guide and to travel the whole circuit with everything arranged, our Somnath Dwarka Tour Package from Experience My India includes Bet Dwarka.
Bet Dwarka temple darshan timings
Session | Timing |
Morning darshan | 6:00 AM to 12:30 PM |
Midday closure (sanctum closed) | 12:30 PM to 5:00 PM |
Evening darshan | 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM |
Entry | Free |
Like most temples in the Dwarka region, the Bet Dwarka temple takes a long afternoon break, so plan your visit for the morning or after 5:00 PM. Timings can extend and crowds swell on festival days, especially Janmashtami, so confirm locally if you are travelling around a festival.
Bet Dwarka temple opening and closing time
The temple opens at 6:00 AM in the morning and its final closing time in the evening is 9:00 PM. In between, remember the midday closure from 12:30 PM to 5:00 PM, when the sanctum is shut. So the two windows for darshan are early to midday and evening. If you are coming just for the day from Dwarka, the morning session is the easiest to plan around the ferry and the bridge.
How to reach Bet Dwarka: bridge and ferry timings
Since February 2024, the Sudarshan Setu bridge connects Okha directly to Bet Dwarka island, so most visitors now simply drive across, which removes any worry about ferry timings. The traditional Okha jetty ferry still runs, though and many pilgrims enjoy the short boat ride:
Detail | Information |
Sudarshan Setu bridge | Drive across from Okha (open since Feb 2024) |
Okha ferry service | 6:00 AM to 7:00 PM, roughly every 30 minutes |
Last return ferry | Head back from the island by 7:00 PM |
Ferry crossing time | About 20 to 30 minutes each way |
If you take the boat, keep an eye on the clock so you catch the last return by 7:00 PM. For the drive itself, see the distance from Dwarka to Bet Dwarka, about 33 km and Experience My India can arrange a car and driver so the timing takes care of itself.
How to plan your Bet Dwarka darshan
The easiest plan is to leave Dwarka after your morning Dwarkadhish temple timings, reach Bet Dwarka for the morning session before the 12:30 PM closure and stop at Nageshwar Jyotirlinga on the way, since it sits on the same road. If you prefer the evening, aim for the 5:00 PM reopening and, if using the boat, still leave the island by 7:00 PM.
